Yuen Yeung, Hong Kong-style Coffee Milk Tea

Yuen Yeung is a popular Hong Kong drink that blends coffee and tea in one cup, symbolising the pairing of two different things (tea and coffee). A classic café favourite in Hong Kong.

Ingredients

Yuen Yeung, a popular Hong Kong drink, blends coffee and tea. Traditionally, it combines strong black tea with coffee and milk (often evaporated or condensed milk), creating a drink that’s smooth, slightly sweet, and balanced. It’s neither as strong as straight coffee nor as mild as plain milk tea.

The name “Yuen Yeung” comes from a type of bird that lives in pairs, symbolising the pairing of two different things. In this case, tea and coffee. It can be served hot or cold and is a classic café favourite in Hong Kong.

  • 4 scoops milk tea powder
  • condensed milk
  • 200ml hot water
  • ice (skip if preferred hot)
  • single or double shot of espresso

Feel free to add coffee popping balls or coffee coconut jellies.

  • Froth or whisk 4 scoops milk tea powder, condensed milk and 200ml hot water.
